Take It Slow: The Use of Feedback and Persuasive Technology to Reduce Eating Rate

We received a €100,000 grant from the Netherlands Organisation of Scientific Research (NWO) to research the effect of vibrotactile feedback on eating rate. The project will run from 1 March 2015 to 20 January 2017 and will encompass qualitative and quantitative (lab and field) research into the efficacy of a ‘smart’ fork to slow down fast eaters, and its effects on energy intake, satiety, and weight status.

The forks are provided by our consortium partner Slowcontrol (Paris, France).

In collaboration with Roel Hermans (Radboud Universiteit, NL), Jeana Frost (VU Amsterdam, NL), Monica Mars (Wageningen Universiteit, NL), Eric Robinson (University of Liverpool, UK) and Suzanne Higgs (University of Birmingham, UK).
